TASCO TURNS 50!
This year marks TASCO’s 50th anniversary. Started in the early 1970’s by Fred Thompson Senior in a small Bellville shop, the company originally touted only 3 stamping presses and one product line – stampings for Fruehauf Trailers. Today, the company has grown to over 20 presses with multiple capabilities, a tool and die shop, welding shop, and a large range of products in a variety of industries.
Fritz Thompson, President, notes “TASCO’s origins go back even further than the original Byerly welding shop in Belville. My father started producing stampings in our garage with us, his sons, helping out. As a family business, we have grown through our dedicated employees and our commitment to our customers.”
Shortly after starting, TASCO had to relocate to Crestline to accommodate the thriving business. Taking over the former Schill Manufacturing building, the plant size doubled. Since it’s move, several additions, have been added including an extra press room, storage facility, and shipping building. Just in the past year, a new 400 ton press has been added to facility.
TASCO’s strength comes from its ability to adapt to the ever-changing manufacturing world. Automotive has been the company’s biggest industry. “With new laws, materials, and designs, we have had to conform to the standards enforced by the car manufacturers. But with every challenge comes an opportunity for us to innovate and improve our own processes. Being a small company with a loyal and knowledgeable workforce has been our biggest asset with these changes,” states Jeff Thompson, Vice-President.
